Welcome to Alessandra, Francisca, Gayatri, Laura, Tianqi and Rodrigo!

Alessandra is a PhD student at ONERA in Salon-de-Provence, France, affiliated with the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone and Aix-Marseille Université. Her doctoral research is supervised by Andrea Desantis and co-supervised by Kobe Desender and Guillaume Masson. Her project aims at decoding decision confidence from EEG signals, focusing on the potential amodal nature of these processes. She holds an International Master’s Degree in Neuroscience from Trieste, where she investigated modulations of GABAergic activity via transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation, under the guidance of Prof Urgesi and Dr Finisguerra. Outiside the lab, Alessandra enjoys hiking as wells as experiencing art in all its shapes.

Francisca is a predoctoral researcher at BCBL’s (Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language) consciousness group, where she studies Metacognition in Childhood under the supervision of David Soto. She holds a Master’s degree in Molecular and Translational Neuroscience from the University of Coimbra. During her time at ICNAS (Institute for Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health), she conducted research on perception in autism spectrum disorder using psychophysics and fmri methodologies. Outside of her academic work, she enjoys traveling, music concerts, and dancing.

Gayatri Nerpagar is a PhD student with Dr. Elisa Filevich at the Meta Motor Lab, Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen. She has completed her master’s degree in Cognitive Science from Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT GN), India. Her research interests are motor metacognition, movement analysis, computational modelling, and decision neuroscience. Besides research, she is a trained dancer and enjoys learning new dance forms, reading fiction, and painting.

In 2023, Laura received her master’s degree in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology from the University of Ghent (Belgium). Currently, she is a PhD student in the CODE-network, working with Pascal Mamassian and Ruth van Holst. She will spend time at the ENS in Paris and at the UMC in Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of confidence during decision-making for individuals with compulsive disorders. She is interested in computational modeling and working with clinical populations. Outside the lab, Laura enjoys traveling and trying new food.

Rodrigo is a PhD student in the lab of Janneke Jehee at the Donders institute, looking at the neural mechanisms linking sensory uncertainty with dcision confidence. He first worked with Bayesian models with Paul Bays at the University of Cambridge during his undergraduate project and then as a research assistant, before doing a master’s with Chris Kent at the University of Bristol. Outside of the lab he enjoys programming, bouldering, and playing guitar!
